Family Coaching - Home Harmony Sessions
What are Home Harmony Sessions:

Home Harmony Coaching is a supportive, neuro-affirming approach designed to help families better understand behavior, not as something to control or fix, but as communication. Led by Ashley Bobst, a Nurse certified in Neuro-Affirming Health and Wellness Coaching who also has lived neurodivergent experience, this service focuses on uncovering the needs, emotions, and environmental factors that drive behavior within the home.

Rather than using traditional behavior modification models like ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), which emphasize compliance and external rewards, Home Harmony Coaching centers on connection, curiosity, and compassion. While behavior modification can be effective at changing surface behaviors, it often overlooks the body’s stress response and the role of anxiety, sensory processing, and emotional safety. This can make “successful” behavior change feel exhausting or even distressing for both the individual and the family. Sometimes, this creates a domino effect where the stress behind one behavior doesn’t disappear, it just finds a new way to show up.

Our work together shifts the focus from behavior management to understanding and regulation. By exploring how stress, sensory input, communication differences, and unmet needs interact, families learn to create a calmer, more cooperative home environment, one rooted in mutual respect, safety, and authentic growth.

The Value of Lived Neurodiverent Experience:

Working with someone who has lived a neurodivergent experience offers insight and empathy that go beyond theory. While neurotypical practitioners may understand neurodivergence (Autism, Adhd, Sensory Processing Disorder, etc...) through observation and research, lived experience provides an inside perspective, what it feels like to navigate sensory input, communication, and daily life in a neurotypical world. This allows for support that’s not only evidence-informed but truly relatable, respectful, and realistic. Families gain guidance that honors neurodivergent ways of thinking and being, creating strategies that fit the individual rather than trying to make the individual fit the system.

PARENT REVIEWS:

"Since starting Home Harmony sessions with Ashley, we've learned so much about how to communicate a lot better as a family. The focus on declarative language has helped us express our needs and feelings more clearly. Learning how to give our kids more autonomy has not only boosted their confidence, but it’s also made them more comfortable communicating with both me and their dad. The changes in our home are incredible, and we’re seeing stronger connections and better communication every day. She is fantastic, my kids just adore her, and always ask, "Is it Ashley day yet?" -Amy O., Fairfax, Virginia

"As parents of 6-year-old neurodivergent twins who always compete for attention, we tried an ABA therapist, but it wasn’t the right fit. Ashley's approach, however, is completely different and so effective." - Terry and Shawna, Front Royal, Virginia

"We have had 3 sessions so far. I love watching my daughter, who is 8, and Ashley play together. It's really neat to see how she works. She listens to her without her even *telling* her what to do (my daughter is PDA and struggles with listening to anyone). These sessions remind me of the old Nanny 911 show, but without the mean nanny lol. She quickly built trust, teaches important skills, sets boundaries, and narrates everything in a way that feels natural. We are learning by just watching them interact :) " -Simrin T., Gainesville, Virginia
